The genus Red Lori - Eos - includes six species (in some classification - less) of birds that live on the islands of South Asia: Saparua, Seram, Buru, Ambon (Moluccas), on the Watube Islands. They settle in tropical forests: in the thicket and along the coasts.
Body length 30 cm, tail 10-11 cm. Plumage color is bright red. The color of the plumage is very bright and beautiful - in blue, red and purple tones, with black markings.
Shoulder coverts, a sling on both sides and a blue undertail. The upper side of the tail feathers is brown-red, the tips of the flight feathers are black-brown. Coloration of the beak in yellow and orange tones. The iris is brown. Legs and waxes are gray. Females are almost indistinguishable from males.
The female lays two eggs. After about 4 weeks, chicks appear, they fly out of the nest in about 2-2.5 months.
